Good For Country Concert
November 2020, First Annual GFC Concert
Because one of our main goals as a company is to find ways to engage with the local community, we were thrilled to host our first annual FREE Good For Country concert on Thursday, November 19th at our Lufkin South First location! Three amazing Nashville artists headlined the event - Chris Colston, Kameron Marlowe, and Payton Smith! You'll probably recognize them from their songs making it on top country Spotify playlists. They played an acoustic song-swap that showcased their amazing vocal talents and gave listeners a preview of several unreleased songs. By the end of the night, we had families swing dancing in the parking lot! Needless to say, this concert was a great way for us to bring 2020 to a close.
Supporting a Good Cause
Like the name "Good For Country" implies, we wanted to find creative ways to give back to the Lufkin community in the midst of a difficult year.
The Roundtable
In addition to the free entertainment, we partnered with a Lufkin staple, The Roundtable, to provide ribeye sandwiches that support a great cause. All proceeds from the The Rountable go towards a scholarship fund benefiting Angelina county's FFA, 4H and family science students. Every meal purchased at the event benefitted our local community.
For nearly 25 years the men of the Lufkin Roundtable have been dishing out delicious rib eye sandwiches to raise scholarship money for Angelina County students. But what is the Lufkin Roundtable? "A group of guys that drink coffee every morning down at the feed store and we have a scholarship fund," said Lufkin Roundtable member, Charles Arnold. A scholarship fund that has given more than $400,000 to Angelina County students involved in Future Farmers of America (FFA), 4H and family life science.
The McMullen Memorial Library
In addition to The Rountable, all proceeds from our raffle a signed guitar from all three artists went to the McMullen Memorial Library in Huntington. This is another local organization that we've been partnering with for decades. In previous years, we've been able to donate old computers and other office supplies to the library, so we were thrilled to get to give a cash donation this year.
Long Story Short...
We had a blast, and it's safe to say we're looking forward to hosting more nights like this. Not only were we able to raise money for our community, but we were able to experience a night of fun in the middle of a crazy year. We look forward to hosting more concerts in the future!
